Hawk Throwing at the Pioneer Museum
While the tomahawk was a formidable weapon, unlike the movies, it was probably never actually thrown in frontier warfare. However, what used to be common on the frontier were games of skill. Join our “expert” as we talk more about the history of games of skill and giving visitors a chance to test their own skill with a tomahawk. This program will be taking place throughout the day and is part of the Pioneer Museum Summer Series. It is free with your paid admission to the museum.

Ink & Writing at the Pioneer Museum
For Centuries, writing was a fine craft: the style of lettering showed ones status as well as ones trade. In the 18th century, lawyers, merchants, and secretaries all had different scripts. Men and women of different social classes had different attitudes towards writing. All of this began with a simple writing instrument and ink. Join us as we demonstrate how to produce these two basic tools.
